At times i think that people don't pause and think about how hazerdous and unsafe their workplaces can be. Now im not talking about working in an industry where you life is on the line everyday, im talking about simple jobs where you may be exposed to heat. People can often forget to remeber the dangers if heat exposure and they might push themselves or get pushed by employers to work too hard in unnatural conditions to get the job done.

I was recently released from hospital after suffering from heat stress. Now I know this may not sound serious, but what people don't realise is that working in a hot environment puts huge stress on the body's cooling system. When heat is combined with other stress factors together with physical activity it can often lead to heat-related illness (which I had), disability or even in some cases death! In my case I was lucky and I am now as 'healthy as a horse' as they say, but not everyone's outcome is so positive. What I learnt from being in hospital is that heat related illnesses actually happens all the time and people don't take as much precautious as they should.

In general I think most people's biggest downfall, especially mine is that we just don't pay attention to our body's enough. About three weeks before I was administered into hospital I was experiencing cramps. Little did I know that these were heat cramps and can lead to a lot more serious and damaging effects on the body. Simple, heat cramps are often sharp pains in the muscles. It often results from a salt imbalance, resulting from failing to replace salt lost with sweat. People at work told me to drink more water and the cramps should go. With my job being so physical I always made sure I drank large amounts of water during the day which is why I couldn't realize why I was experiencing cramps at all.

What I found out is that I was actually drinking enough water, however the water didn't have sufficient salt (electrolyte) replacement, which is why I couldn't rid the cramps and inevitable ended up in hospital. Whilst it is a simple solution to buy water and the suggested drinks like Gatorade everyday for work, I also think that it is bloody expensive considering how long I work during the day and how much I need to drink to replace my body with sufficient electrolytes. Not only that, I think 'sports drinks' have a lot of sugar and in general just not good for the body every day.

After doing a little investigation to find a cheaper solution, I have started trialling this product Recovery e21 (yes, free trials are available) and it is completely natural and organic. I find that for less than a dollar a day I can replace all the essential nutrients my body needs to prevent muscle cramps during the day.

I feel very lucky to have found this product as it has changed my life and I feel that it might be a great idea for workers who are exposed to heat above 89 degree Fahrenheit should get these supplements supplied to them from their employers at no cost. The cost of heat exhaustion is much more.
